Re: British clergy have doubts about virgin birth

Over 50 years ago, the great German theologian Bultmann ("Kerygma and Myth") admitted that there are elements of mythology in the Bible (OT and NT)
Naturally enough the mythic material will be the most sensational and fabulous material, like the Virgin Birth. Virgin-born saviours are a dime a dozen in world mythology, darn near de rigueur!
The entire edifice of Christianity rests on an utterly mythic episode involving a Talking Snake. No Snake, no Fall: No Fall, no need for Redemption; no need for Redemption, no need for a Redeemer. Deus otiosus! A hopeless tissue of fables. trgimp@yahoo.com
