Thomas. Patriotism is wonderful and necessary for the strength of any nation. However, I think you're an idealist.

P: If whites fought as hard for human rights as they did for [bleeping] animals, we wouldn't have this mess. It took black folks 350 years, until 1965, with the Civil Rights and Voting Rights acts. For hundreds of years blacks were treated as "property", can you imagine that! Yet, here you are trying to overlook the bulk of American history and claim America is all about freedom and liberty. If it weren't for the black struggle in America and it's successes, you'd be hard pressed to make such a claim. 50 years ago you couldn't say what you say.

P: There's always been a segment of white's for freedom. From the very start the white abolitionist movements began. But they lacked power over the majority of whites who condoned, if not participated in the slave trade. All whites have benefited from it. Slavery only ended because of the profitability question...they figured out that a slave master was responsible for the medical, food, clothing and lodging costs of each individual, whereas in the North, they paid $1 a day and that worker had to pay his own bills.

P:You are mistaken, a little. English "criminals" mainly went into the south (unclaimed areas), while English nobleman started the colonies. In the West, you are somewhat correct. Though the Lousiana Purchase was a French position, I don't find a great difference between white Frenchmen and Englishmen. Both participated in the partitioning and colonization of Africa.
