Re: Agreed

Acceptance and recognition by white people seems to be the paramount symbol of success with people like Halle Berry and other "blacks" that get all giddy about "firsts".

personally, i don't care for any "black" woman to be portrayed in a movie in which she finds it "neccessary" to find "love" or 'acceptance" by layin' up with a white man. Especially a white man who is obviously racist. ESPECIALLY, one that executes her husband.

Nor did I care for when Denzel's character laid up with the white ho in the spike lee flick either. Same desperate ass black folks lookin' for love anyplace and "just happen" to find it with white folks.

Anyhow, this "Halle won. She's the first. If she can do it, I can too." is a totally messed up attitude that is brought from parent to child, and if this is what is needed to boost up black self-esteem, then we are going to get NOWHERE fast.

To REPEAT: I have a serious problem with black children feeling, in whatever roundabout way, that white approval is the best there is.

The "youth" need to be trained to think that they are a success regeardless of what the "majority" thinks. And if you want to recognize your achievements, make your own shows and awards. Make the judging so hard and do your stuff to such high standards that YOU become the standard. But noooooooo we'd rather just play the "recognize me" game.

it's disgusting. fuk halle and all the rest of these cooners.

support independent black media and films, not THEM.
