The Welsh, consequently, the related Irish and Scots, seem to be convinced that they descend from Gomer, first-born of Japheth, and that Gomeric is supposed to be the original name of their language. Perhaps, as Arthur Custance postulates, Hamitic peoples went into Europe first, then were overtaken by Japhethic tribes and that would explain some DNA similarities? However, the record of the Table of Nations in Genesis 10 does not seem to list the territores of "the isles" Hamites as Hamitic destinations.
