What about Cheikh Amadoua Bemba? He lead non-violent peace demonstrations against the rulling French well before Ghandi went on his hunger strikes. Why don't we hear much about him? He not only demonstrated peaceful protest,but he alsoestablished his own schools,cities,and infacstructure in Colonial French Senegal without any help of the French.

To be honest,some of the beliefs of Ghandi were elitist Brahmanism. He did not care about the Untoucables or any low caste Hindus,nor really about anybody else except high caste Hindus.
