It does matter. I believe (supported by evidence) that Hannibal was in fact a black man. I am not going to get pro black on ya (even though I am), but if you are a true history buff then its easy to identify the seemingly obvious racial alterations of scholars, saints (popes) scientists, military minds, entertainers and many other great minds that are originally black or afriacanoid individuals, but depicted in history books, and on TV as other than or white. Hannibal is a prime example of this racial cover up (for lack of better term).
One drop of black blood does in fact make you a black person. This idea was created by the southern whites and Jewish slave traders. This idea is also found in earlier records dating back before Christopher Columbus concerning slaves.
In today’s society it is beneficial for a minority to fully understand and appreciate its own history; not just Martins dream or Malcolm’s rifle but to understand that black people are the original man, and the father of all civilizations. Who dragged Europe out of the dark ages? More specifically; who is the most influential race in early Greece, Rome, Italy and most other European city/states? Europeans have looked to Africa, Ethiopia and other africanoid civilizations for countless years for wisdom and insight, in fact, most of the monumental breakthroughs from European / non African minds are grafted versions of their original African / Egyptian blue prints. If we, as a minority, don’t understand that we were and are the fathers of much that has transpired in today’s society then we will never understand or maximize our place within our society, thus, forever chaining us to a label with negative connotations such as minority.
