Here, all you had to do is search "genetic mutations causes" in Goggle, you get this:

Look below the definition to "Mutagens". Under "Chemical Mutagens" you see three bullets, the first to are methods of bad replication, the third bullet speaks of "add hydrocarbon groups" (see weblink below)...this has to do with diet. Further, you have radiation, sunlight and spontaneous ways of causing bad replications. But, as I said, there are only two ways in which genetic mutations can occur, 1)bad replication, 2)something you ate, causes cells to produce differeng enzymes and thus change the genetic code transfered during mitosis. Remember the African legend I mentioned about something in their diet caused the women to give birth to albino children?
I thought I'd better give you the meaning of "hydrocarbons" as well:
