I understand your animosity for the word "Negro," however, it is important we all get past the ignorance of society's racism and move on into our own positive expression of who we are. And, in truth we express many origins and human characteristics, as well as features. As for calling the Negro an African, what of the White South Africans---are they not Africans? However, they are not of dark skin-tone. Nonetheless, they may be of a high percentage of black-blood---even though they are white-skinned. Did we not see on PBS not long ago that DNA shows this possibility. Even the host of that show, Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. was shocked to find he himself to be only half Black-African.
I share this in pride to be of African-blood and to be known as a Negress.
