I did mean the Amharic, not the whole population of Ethiopia. One such individual I knew in my childhood named get'o (spelling?) was in fact Amharic and explained to me that it was a Semitic language.
On the myth of the white migration in Africa at remote times, I am starting to disprove this theory which I myself was taught as a kid. Because of the relation between Hamitic and Semitic (a link only established in the 80's)it was assumed that at some remote time in history, Berber like folk migrated southwards to extend "civilization" to blacks whom they mixed with, producing mixed types such as the Tuaregs.
Racial maps of Africa in my Geography class were outrageously wrong, showing countries like Mauritania for instance or even Central African Republic as "White"!!! Because of this supposed link with Hamitic and hence, the mythical Berber group that supposedly migrated south at an unknown and remote time in history.
I am now beginning to wonder if that is even remotely a likely possibility?
