There are more and more ridiculous claims by African/Negroes about the racial origin of people throughout the world. THe level of ignorance among black Americans simply amazes me to go and suggest all this nonsense about Indians, Persians etc...being African!!!!!
I AM IRANIAN and writing a thesis about the aboriginal populations of Iran and Central Asia and would like to answer all these questions.
First and foremost, African Negroes played ABSOLUTELY NO PART in the history and culture of Asia (or Egypt for that matter). The only exception is the extreme southwest of the Arabian Peninsula known as Yemen, which received appreciable amount of African/Negro blood, especially during the conquest of Yemen by Ehtiopians in the 6th century (prior to the Persians ousting them in the time of the Sassanian Empire).
Asian "blacks" are Australoid people whose origins are very ancient indeed, as the first poster of this thread made clear in a very scientific and unbiased way (as opposed to the black individual who continuously posts nonsense shaped by his/her racist nation of Islam type attitude.)
Australoid people were probably the earilest inhabitants of the region of lower Iraq (prior to the Sumerians) as well as southern Iran (the Elamites were one such people), eastern Iran, southern Afghanistan, Pakistan...all the way to the Malay Peninsula.
By around 10 000 years ago, the racial mixture of the copper-skinned so-called Irano-Afghan race (a Mediterranean race somewhat related to southern Italians, Greeks, dark Iberians etc...)with Australoid Veddoid people (not to be confused with the Australoid Negritos more closely related to Melanesians and Papuans)created the Dravidians who populated much of southern Iran all the way to India.
In Iran, in the regions of Kerman, Balutchestan and in southern Afghanistan, the people still have those physical features taht set them apart from the rest of the mainstream population.
The southern and southeastern Iranians are therefore at least partially Australoid.Further north were Mediterranean type people prior to the Aryan invasions. THe Aryans contributed an important part of the genetic pool of the Iranians however even though most people don't realize that. They were of two racial types, both belonging to the European/Caucasian race.
These included
1)the Nordic race, clearly illustrated on glazed brick art work from the palace of Shush in southern Iran depicting blond haired, blue or green eyed Achamenid soldiers as well as ancient descriptions of Sarmatian and Scythians as a blond, tall and ruddy skinned race. Nordics are Mesocephalic, about 6 feet tall with blond or red hair and blue or blue/grey eyes
2) Armenoid or Pamir/Ferghanna type constituting a native physical type originally from the Caucasus that migrated to Central Asia some 4500-5000 years ago and became mixed with the Nordic Aryans around 4000 years ago during their descent into Central Asia and Iran. These people have fair skin but black hair and brown or hazel eyes, stand about 5'9" in height and have bracycephalic skulls, similar to the Alpine and Dinaric types of Central and Balkanic Europe.After 7000 years of history, it's no surprise to see that Iran today is a veritable melting pot of people and races.
A) the center and south, the majority of the people are of a general mediterranean type belonging to the Irano-Afghan race. They are generally short in stature, slender and copper skinned like the people of the Mediterranean, and long headed.
B) the north, in aprticular the provinces of Kermanshah, Kurdistan and especially Gilan (where I'm from) and Azarbaijan have very high instances of blond or light brown hair, and way over half the population has blue or green eyes.
C) in the south east are people with very swarthy complexion, similar to people from India and these represent the remnants of Australoid populations absorbed or mixed over millenia with the Irano-Afghans and Dravidians. The darkest people are on the coast of Balutchestan where a Dravidian kingdom (Makran)until after the mongol conquest (14th century and later).
D) in the north east, along the border with Turkmenistan where once blond haired Scythians and Kushans had dwelled, there is a partly or wholly Mongoloid type with Oriental features, mongoloid eyefold and short, stocky members and body. These are mostly Turcoman tribesmen. Many can easily pass as Korean or Chinese.
E) The unfortunate conquest by barbarian Arabs has brought about a Semitic strain in the southwest of the country (Khouzestan) as well as Pars province (theoriginal homeland of the Persians), around Shiraz as well as further east in Khorassan and north in Mazandaran where Arab military colonies wer eplanted to suppress the local people conquered by the muslims.
F)a small Negro population now also exists in the area of Bandar Abbas and Qeshm islan, as a result of the slaves brought in by the Arabs, from Africa, and settled on Iranian soil. Portuguese also brought in black slaves in the 16th century (strait of Hormuz region).To conclude, one cannot simply classify the entire Iranian nation in one single race. I am white, my mother has red hair and my brother in law is Dravidian looking. My paternal grandfather had copper complexion with brown eyes while my maternal grandfather had light brown hair and green eyes (and looked German!). There are Iranians who can't be told apart from northern Europeans like Germans and British while others can easily pass as Italian/Spanish, Oriental or even Indian (East Indian).Genes however never disapear (Havey-Weinberg law) and regardless, always resurface in teh living population after one or more generations.
In a racial sense, Iranians can be Mediterranean, European (White), Australoid or Dravidian, or Mongoloid/Oriental. Skin color ranges from ruddy white to brown and black. Eyes range from blue to green, grey and brown. Height ranges from 5'4 to 6'4. Hair ranges frmo platinum and ash blond to light brown, dark brown, black with reddish hues or black with bluish hues.
