Re: Black Egypt? Hardly!
In Response To: Re: Black Egypt? Hardly! ()

''Re: Papyri of Ani and Hunefer: there are dozens and dozens of figures shown, Almost none are Black. The conventional way the Egyptians portrayed themselves was Brown men and slightly Yellowish women. Except when Nubians were portrayed.''

We have to be really careful with skin complexion of people potrayed in such things as the papyrus of ani, which in many ways the color of the people are simply symbolic.

Nubians are not always potrayed different and this can be cearly seen in the tomb where nubians are paying tribute to tutankhamun. Some nubians are painted dark brown like most of the egyptains

''The architecture of the first three dynasties shows strong Mesopotamian affinities. Mesopotamians (including Semitic-speaking Akkadians) were entering Upper Egypt by way of the Red Sea and the Wadi Hammamat at this time.''

Well you are slight correct some of the early temples found in nekhen do show some affinities with mesopotamia, but new archeological evidence found at places like Nabta playa point that perhaps the megalithic stone temples foud there was the prototype of egyptain architecture.

By dyanstic period of time the so called mesopotamian influence seems to have died down.

Let me just note that Ancient egypt or kmt was an African civlization, not an asiatic one.

Much of the dyanstic race thoery put out by people like WB Emery and Sir flinders petrie has been thrown by the wayside due to lack of evidence.

Since the findings at nabta playa in southern egypt,I doubt that there would be much looking to mesopotamia for innovations.

Some new evidence is even shwoing that a find at abydos is usurping sumerians claim to having the oldest written language.

reference to what I said can be found in richard j WEilkinson complete temples of ancient egypt, where he theorizes that nabta playa could be the foundations for egyptain temples.

By the way the reamins at nabta playa show close dental affinities to sub saharan African populations, and fred wendorf believes that these people could have been the people who later produced the civlization in dyanstic egypt.
I donot doubt that traders from part of mesopotamia could have settled in what is know upper egypt, but I however doubt that they made a dent to the population.

Upper egyptains basically are of African stock, and pre dyanstic badarians who brought agriculture and produced much of the ancient egyptain culture could fit the tyology of true negro, but I believe that the true negro typology is ratther old and archic.

By the way to everybody on this list there are other african civlizations that are worth reserching and lkooking into, not just egypt.
