Re: Black Egypt? Hardly!

''The same here. But then, everything, no matter how irrational, to separate Egypt from Africa.
You'd have to wonder why, if Egypt had no influence on Greece, if Egyptian civilization
was insignificant, they put so much effort into proving why Egypt is not an African
civilization. Mary Lefkowitz, a Classics professor (this isn't even her field) published
_2_ books railing against "afrocentrism''

Well,I must say that some agruments of Afrocentricm are kind of extreme, and often the aruments are not well represented with scetific basis.

I think more people in the field should go the route of someone like Diop,Keita, and even Van sertima.

Leftowotz in her book Not Out of Africa never calls the Egyptians white people. She just argues against the Greeks getting Philosophy from the Egyptians. She also objects to the Theory of the Egyptians colonizing the Greeks. A archeologist named Eric Cline argues that Egyptians trading colonies do exist around the agean around the time of Amenhotep III,which trade with Crete goes back to at least the 12th Dyansty.

However one piece of evidence she largely ignored and Richard Poe in his book ''Black Spark White Fire was the pyramid in Greece aroiund the time when Greeks didnot have the technology.

What people might not realize is that contact with Greeks and Egyptians proballyt goes back further than the Mycenean times, which the Kemetians document as Hau Nebu.

One thing however leftowitz tried to do is use Frank Snowden, who himself is a very biased source of infomration. He would often look at sculpture and determine how ''negriod'' it was net he has no degree in anthropology, nor does he have the expertise to do so.

Snowden even contridicts himself one time when he says Horace considers Egyptos the same as aethiopies.

One thing however George James the man who wrote Stolen legacy, made many mistakes especially when he said Aristotle stole his information from Alexzandria which was built after Aristotle death.

It is widley know however that Aristotle,Socrates,Plato,Diodorus siculus, and many other give egypt the proper credit they deserve for paving the way for the Greeks.

Anyway I am from Egypt, and I wish Western Academia would quit misrepresenting Kmt.

However I will say this that I believe that African centered scholars should also focus on other parts of Africa as well. The nile Vallye civlization as grand as it was had it's disadvantages.

Africans have a legitmate history of Democratic goverment, which both the Oromo,Igbo, and Wolof people of Senegal had.

There is good evidence that Africans indepdently discovered Iron, which the Egyptians only got form the Hitties who taught them.

Africans had methods of qurantine to keep down sickness, which many would call the sick bush, something that egypt never had.

So I agree with you for the most part Upper Egyptians in general who started Kmt were black just like many rual Egyptians today like myself. Because of the social stigma that is placed upon being black many might however deny it.

Ancient egypt is still alive and well today in rual parts of Upper Egypt.
