Hi- Yes the ankh is probably one form of the tau cross- there are many many other examples like the T-shaped tombs of the Valley of the Kings, T-shaped ponds and pools and so on. Your idea about studying modern day survivals of ancient Egyptian religion is a good one. There was an excellent book of this type done years ago on the Greek religion. It can be stated as a general rule that religious reforms tend to be concentrated in cities and that the country folks adhere longer to the "old ways." Todd
